Proposed Amendment To Regulation H(1)(B)4.(3) - However, If The Measurement Places The Dog In A Different Category Then A Third Measurement Must Be Carried Out Within Two Calendar Months By Two Measurers, Both Of Which Must Not Have Measured The Dog On A Previous Occasion - the only way this could happen would be if the KC had more measurers. Marie and I have, in the last 3 months, run measuring sessions for clubs during their training nights in Worcester, Gloucester and Bristol as well as here in South Wales. We have travelled this far because there are so few measurers in the area; it will be even harder to find measurers that haven't previously measured the dog if a third measure is required.

If a third measurement in a case of 2 different measures is to be introduced then it SHOULD be retrospective and apply too all dogs with 2 different measures that are competing. It seems a nonsense not to apply this regulation to all dogs who have 2 different measures irreppective of date as the principle applies whenever you were measured not just because of when your dog was born. As I understand records are kept by measurers and sent to the KC so they should have a central record of all affected dogs?? To introduce this rule gives certainty that a dog has measured that height on two occassions for ALL competing dogs in small and medium and most in large regardless of age. I do also beleive though that a limit of 2 months to obtain the final measure is not enough especially over the autumn/winter months given the scarcity of measurers. Also perhaps at least one of the measurers and not both should not have measured the dog before - that may give more scope in attempting to find a different measuring team.

Regarding warm up area near the rings. This is an excellent idea. Currently it is difficult at some venues to warm your dog up adequately- at some shows the exercise area is very small and occasionally dogs are not allowed off leads.
